Meet The Team – Laura Burke, Resourcer

Laura is the newest member of the G&P recruitment services division, but is already making the role her own, specialising in high-volume roles such as vehicle technicians, paint technicians and preppers.

If that sounds like a big, high-pressure job, it is. Laura is continually making calls, combing through job boards and speaking to business managers and candidates alike. “Some businesses need one person in a month’s time; some might need 15 highly-specialised people tomorrow,” she said. “It means working under pressure at times, but I love it.”

Laura is focussed on building an impressive, in-depth database of candidates, so names and CVs are readily available when they’re needed, something that’s particularly important as the automotive industry continues to undergo a rapid transformation. “Market requirements are ever-changing, especially with the move to electrification, meaning that building up those pools of suitable candidates with electric and hybrid skills is so important,” Laura added.

But while Laura uses technology to help build the G&P database there are no shortcuts when it comes to communication, where honesty and transparency are key for both customers and candidates.

And like so many great recruitment professionals, Laura understands it’s the human element that matters so much to job satisfaction. “I love speaking to candidates. There’s such a variety of people to get to know and delve into their skills and employment histories,” she said. “I’ve learned so much about the automotive industry in a short amount of time and should I have any queries I know I have the support of the team who have decades of experience and expertise”.

“When I speak to candidates, I really understand what they do on a daily basis; they’re happy to talk about their expertise, and I increase my knowledge, I’ve built up some really lovely relationships with many of the candidates I’ve worked with.
