Meet The Team – Gábor Somlai, Plant Manager

Celebrating 16 years with G&P in 2024, Gábor Somlai is a familiar face to many around the company and its customers in Hungary where he has carried out a number of front-line roles, supporting OEMs and Tier 1’s in their quality efforts.

Currently, Gábor works as the plant manager for G&P at their Extended Workbench warehouse supporting a renowned manufacturer in Szentgotthard, Hungary. It’s a busy location where he’s been situated for the last six years, alongside 170 other workers, where he primarily manages off-site outsourced finishing processes.

However, he notes that every day presents a new challenge, and in turn you learn something new every day. And this was certainly the case recently, when Gábor and his team were instrumental in demonstrating G&P’s operations to executives from BMW in Hungary, and contributed to G&P securing work for BMW’s new facility in Debrecen.

According to his colleagues, Gábor is most likely to be heard saying “Of course we can do it!”, a phrase which reflects his positive outlook and commitment to delivering complete customer satisfaction, helping to ensure that G&P is considered as the best in the business.

Indeed, commenting on his role, Gábor explains “For me, working for G&P gives me a sense of honour, and when customers speak highly of our company, it makes me incredibly proud. Anyone joining our team will get to meet some great people who are highly qualified, have great knowledge in quality assurance, and will be fantastic role models in work and in life itself.”

Beyond work, Gábor is a keen sportsman, and plays football regularly. He drives a BMW and says, “once you’ve driven a BMW, you never dream of another car” – which leaves us wondering if he mentioned this to BMW’s executives during their recent visit?
